Sneak Peak into UK2 with Florian Imgrund & Aaron Dietz

For your consideration, another sneak speak into Uno Kudo vol.2: Naked with author Aaron Dietz and photographer Florian Imgrund.

Florian's photographs are not just visually stunning, but what sets them a part from other photographic works is that they aren't like "normal" photographs. Florian explains: "The unique charm of analog photographs connected with the original handcraft of photography fascinates me. After I got my first analog camera in summer of 2010 I started shooting more and more. This growing portfolio is the result of my passion. All of these photographs are captured on film, self developed and without any computer manipulation. I hope you‘ll enjoy it".

Florian's work can be found all over the internet, but just for you we thought we'd give some direct links HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE. You may find his portfolio on his website HERE.

Aaron Dietz is an instructional designer and the author of Super, a novel from Emergency Press about commitment, crisis, paperwork, and heartbreak. Dietz's super powers include a high metabolism and the ability to put things back where he got them. He's also pretty good at math. Find out more HERE.

Sneak Peak into UK2 with Bud Smith & Glenn Arthur

Here is your first sneak peek into Uno Kudo Vol. 2: Naked, with author Bud Smith and artist Glenn Arthur.

Bud Smith is a writer from Washington Heights, NYC and the author of the collection of short stories 'Or Something Like That'. Born and raised at the New Jersey shore on Thanksgiving day 1981, he has worked a variety of manual labor jobs; heavy construction in power plants and refineries, stone mason-- building waterfalls, carpenter, painter, general all around demolition, just like a Bruce Springteen song.

Currently he drives his car in and out of New York City everyday, commuting in complete silence, contemplating plot, brevity, hope, indifference and love in the warzones of the wild. At night, he parks his car on the street. It always surprises him when he finds his car is still there when the sun comes up. He says, "Heh. Look at that!" Bud has also worked as an editor on various small press publications and as a recording artist in a music studio. He is currently finishing up a novel about a man faking a terminal illness for a nurse and checking himself into the worst hospital in America. Look for that novel and a new collection of short stories in 2013.

Bud's short fiction has appeared most recently in The Bicycle Review, Red Fez and Full of Crow. You may find more of Bud on his website, HERE, or better yet, you may buy his book, 'Or Something Like That' HERE

Glenn Arthur is a self-taught visual artist from Orange County, California. Born in February of 1979, he grew up in a conservative, religious household with little to no influence in art. After shedding his roots he quickly realized that creating art would be his calling. Although he constantly doodled and sketched throughout his youth, Glenn did not come into painting until his late twenties when a friend forced a paintbrush into his hand and said, “You need to do this!”

Since then Glenn has been diligently working on creating his own brand of beautifully painted images. Using all different types of media, he adds in elements and influential symbols of his past and present to each piece. Beyond the aesthetics of his artwork, Glenn brings an overwhelming sense of passion to his paintings. Touching on themes of love, death, conflict and duality, Glenn’s art tells stories of strength and hope through emotion and sentiment with his sensual beauties and signature hummingbirds.

Glenn’s artwork has been shown in galleries and museums throughout the United States in solo as well as group shows. His work has been published in several art books and magazines and he currently works as the master of ceremonies for Dr. Sketchy’s Anaheim Chapter. You may find more of Glenn on his website HERE or his Facebook page HERE

Uno Kudo Volume II: Naked - CALL FOR ENTRIES

We are excited to announce that we are moving ahead with a second volume to the book we put out at the end of last year.

Uno Kudo was received with so much enthusiasm that we have agreed to produce a second volume. This time we are having an open submission that will be judged by a panel of 7. The best written and visual pieces will be published in UK2 for a November release.

The theme is "naked". This can be interpreted however the artist feels. eg: vulnerability, openness, inhibition, emotional or physical.

Deadline for submissions is May 1 2012

All submissions will be cleared of any personal info before the judges see the materials leaving the artist the unique opportunity of having their work judged based purely on it's creative content and quality.

Markets: Fiction, Poetry, Nonfiction, Illustrated Stories and Comics, Artwork, and Photography
Genres: All
Length: under 1500 words
Multiple submissions: Accepted for artwork only.
Previously published: Yes. Please indicate.
Submission type: Email only

Submit materials to: Unokudo@gmail.com

Please indicate on the subject line of your email if the content is poetry, a short story or art.

ARTWORK
Artwork will be used both on it's own and to complement our literary pieces. Artwork that will accompany the literary pieces does not necessarily have to be related to the naked theme. The book is a square format but art may be used as an insert shot or a full bleed across a spread so submissions of any proportions are welcome.

We look to cover a wide range of styles and subject matter.

By submitting your work, you are confirming that you own the Copyright or Creative Commons License to the material, and are granting usage of the work to be published one time in Uno Kudo Unless Afterwards, all rights revert to the contributor. We do, however, reserve the right to use your artwork to promote the book if necessary
